From the working-class heart of La Perseverancia to the Plaza de Bolívar, this tour revives the legacy of Jorge Eliécer Gaitán, the "voice of the village." We'll tour the places where he started his political life, walked through, gave speeches, and was silenced, to discover the other side of Bogotá: the Gaitanist Army of Colombia.

Jorge Eliécer Gaitán was one of the leading Colombian political leaders of the 1940s, and the son of a bookseller and a schoolteacher. We'll learn about his origins at Plaza de la Perseverancia, where we'll begin this tour of Bogotá at the indicated time.
In this square, we'll see the monument to Gaitán, also known as the Caudillo del Pueblo. We'll talk about the origins of this character while having a glass of chicha in the same place where Gaitán used to hang out with his friends.
We'll continue this tour of Gaitán in Bogotá next to the Santamaría bullring. From there, we'll follow the route to the Teatro Jorge Eliécer Gaitán. In front of it, we'll listen to part of the Peace Speech, a famous speech he gave before his assassination. We'll talk about this event as we visit other places in the Colombian capital linked to Gaitán, known as the Bogotazo.
We'll also visit the Museum of Gold, one of the main attractions in the city. To end the tour on a high note, we'll enjoy a delicious tasting of Colombian coffee.
Finally, we'll go to the central Plaza de Bolívar and, after a 4.5-hour tour, we'll conclude this tour at El Bogotazo. Here, we'll toast with a beer and give you a backpack as a symbol of protest. Until next time
