Join us as we enter the depths of the Earth on this hiking route through the Cuevas de Tenjo. We'll access these caves to learn their secrets and enjoy incredible views of the Bogotá savanna.
Description
At the time indicated, we'll meet at the pickup point you choose and travel by minibus towards the centre of Tenjo. Once there, we'll start a 45-minute hike that will take us to the caves that characterise the interior of Colombia.
During this upwards hike, we can see the Bogatá savanna, observe cultivated fields and, if we're lucky, spot different species of birds flying over the area.
Next, we'll access the Cuevas de Tenjo using ropes that will let us descend 45 metres (147 Feet) below the surface of the Earth. We'll light lanterns and explain how the caves were formed and discover the mysterious uses they had in the past. You'll be amazed!
We'll have 10 minutes to visit the inside of the caves and then, we'll return to the surface and head to the viewpoint which offers an incredible panoramic view of the surrounding mountains.
Then, we'll return to the town on foot to visit a hummingbird conservation centre. We'll learn facts about these birds and then take an hour's break so that we can get our energy back.
Finally, we'll get back on the minibus to return to the initial meeting point after an 8-hour-long tour.
