On our day trip to La Virginia and El Guásimo from Manizales, we'll discover one of the most breathtaking protected areas in the Risaralda Department. We'll also combine sport and culture in one unforgettable day.
La Virginia & El Guásimo Day Trip
At 7 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Manizales and head to the Risaralda Department to visit two fascinating places.
First of all, we'll stop at the El Guásimo Nature Reserve. This reserve is located between the Cauca and Risaralda rivers and is dedicated to protecting the biodiversity of the forest. Of the 1400 hectares of the park, 400 hectares are dry tropical forest, making it the only one of its kind located in the Andean zone.
When we get there, we'll combine sport and tourism by setting off on a 3-hour hike through the lush vegetation. We'll come to the Cauca River and then continue walking for 1 hour. Afterwards, we'll take a break to recharge our batteries with a traditional local lunch consisting of a main course and a drink.
We'll then arrive at the municipality of La Virginia, in which the El Guásimo Nature Reserve is located. During our visit, we'll learn how the residents of this charming town make a living from the coffee and fruit tree plantations.
It'll then be time to return to Manizales to drop you off at your hotel at around 1 pm.
Tour without lunch
If you'd prefer to bring your own lunch, this is the best option for you. You'll have some time to eat on your own before we visit La Virginia.
