On this day trip to Tubará from Cartagena, we'll learn about the indigenous traditions of the Mokaná community and take a walk along the beach of Puerto Velero. Don't miss out!
At the indicated time, we'll meet at the Camellón de los Mártires, in the heart of Cartagena de Indias, and, from there, we'll begin a day trip to the municipality of Tuburá.
After about a 2-hour journey, we'll arrive at our destination. Tubará is proud of its indigenous roots, being one of the few areas where the Mokaná ethnic group still lives.
One of the representatives of this community will welcome us and, as we walk around the village, they will tell us about their customs and way of life. The Mokaná are in the process of recovering their traditions. Their original language was part of the Malibu languages, although it's poorly documented.
After this special experience, we'll head to visit other attractions in Tubará. We'll take an easy 1.5-hour walk along natural trails that will lead us to viewpoints with spectacular views of the Caribbean Sea.
At midday, we'll take you to a restaurant on the beach of Puerto Velero, where you can sample the flavours of the Colombian Caribbean with a delicious lunch of fresh fish. After eating, you'll have 1.5 hours of free time to enjoy this paradise and even take a refreshing swim in the sea.
We'll put the finishing touch on the day trip by taking part in a short workshop, in which a craftsman will explain the traditional techniques of the region, and you'll be able to take home the piece he has made, a total immersion in the local culture.
Finally, we'll return to the starting point, where we'll say goodbye after a total of 9 hours.
