Experience awe-inspiring landscapes and rich history as we embark on a hiking adventure along the Camino Real toward the town of Guane. This route traces paths once used by indigenous communities and Spanish settlers—a real blast to the past!
Description
We'll meet at the selected time at Barichara's main park, and from there, we'll head to the entrance of Móncora Biopark, where our Camino Real hiking journey begins.
Setting foot on this historic trail, we'll trek an 8-kilometer (5-mile) downhill path leading to the historic town of Guane. Along the way, you'll appreciate the native trees that line the Camino Real de Tobares. This route, once vital for connecting indigenous communities, gained historical significance as Spanish colonists incorporated it into their trade routes.
After the initial leg of our hike, we'll reach a pottery workshop, where you'll discover an ancestral technique linked to the Guane people. Following the visit, we'll continue along the Camino Real, soaking in breathtaking mountain views.
After a 4.5-hour trek, we'll conclude our hiking adventure in Guane's main park. There, we'll hop on a tuk-tuk to return to our starting point in Barichara.
