At the indicated time, we'll meet at the central fountain of the Parque Principal in Barichara, and from there, we'll begin this free tour. Did you know that this town was the inspiration for the locations of the acclaimed Disney film Encanto?
We'll begin to discover this and other important details of Barichara as we walk through its cobbled streets. We'll stop in front of the impressive and majestic Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, we'll tell you about its history through its architecture.
Next, we'll pass by the Mayor's Office, the Town Hall, and the Casa de la Cultura, which teaches the traditions of Barichara in its exhibitions. Along the way, we'll come across several statues of illustrious personalities who have given value to this municipality.
Afterwards, we'll head towards the Arts and Crafts Workshop, a space where creativity and tradition are intertwined in each handicraft piece and where we'll receive a 15-minute talk on the manufacturing process of its typical handicrafts.
Our route will also take us through the central cemetery, whose carved sculptures tell stories of the ancient inhabitants of Barichara. From there, we'll head to a panoramic viewpoint, an ideal spot to admire the immensity of the landscape and understand the geography that surrounds this magical place.
We'll continue our walk to the statue of Simón Bolívar and the start of the Camino Real Barichara-Guane, where we'll speak about the history of the indigenous roads and everything you should know about this ancestral route.
Later, we'll stop at another viewpoint in the town and arrive at the Santa Bárbara neighbourhood, where a unique experience awaits us: a tasting of sabajón, a cream made with egg yolks, and the emblematic "hormigas culonas", a true delicacy from Santander.
To finish with a bang, we'll visit the beautiful chapel of Santa Barbara, an architectural icon of Barichara. At this last point, we'll say goodbye between 2.5 and 3 hours after the start of the activity.
