Learn about the customs and lifestyle of the Misak people, a pre-Hispanic population in the south of Colombia, on this tour from Silvia.
Tour of Misak Culture
At 8 am, we'll meet at the main park of Silvia. We'll board a minibus and head to the outskirts of the town to enjoy a cultural tour where we'll learn about the ancient customs of the indigenous people of the Colombian department of Cauca.
After a 45-minute drive, we'll arrive at a Misak orchard or yatul, as it's known in the aboriginal language. We'll be welcomed by Misak women, who will explain to us how the crops and planting processes are organized. Also, if you like, you can get hands-on and help in the harvest!
Then, we'll head to the Misak house, where we'll discover how these pre-Hispanic people have been living in the lands of Silvia for centuries. We'll see the kitchens, a space considered sacred, hear about the traditions of the people, and learn about the embroidery techniques they use to make their clothes.
Following the tour of the Misak house, we'll have a lunch consisting of either a fish or vegetarian dish, whichever you prefer, accompanied by a drink and local fruit.
Once we've regained our strength, we'll get back on the minibus to go to the Casa Payán Interpretation Center. During the visit, we'll discover many curiosities about the medicinal plants so deeply rooted in the Miskitu and Colombian culture.
Finally, after an authentic cultural immersion, we'll finish the tour at 2:30 pm back at the starting point.
