Exotic birds, mangroves, endangered animal species and much more await on our Ciénaga Grande de Santa Marta Day Trip. We'll spend an unforgettable day in this incredible Colombian marshland.
Ciénaga Grande de Santa Marta Day Trip
At 6:30 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Santa Marta and head to the western part of the Ciénaga Grande de Santa Marta by minibus. This spot is one of the natural areas surrounding the beautiful Colombian municipality of Ciénaga.
We'll start our day trip by visiting the mouth of the Sevilla River. Here, we'll pause to watch as the exotic birds, such as cormorants, fly over the river. Lots of cormorants are found in the Magdalena region and particularly near Ciénaga, so keep your cameras at the ready!
If we're lucky, we'll also see some Northern screamers during our day trip. This endangered bird is key to maintaining the Ciénaga Grande de Santa Marta's ecosystem. We'll also take a closer look at the mangroves dotted around the lagoon, as these plants have become an iconic symbol of this area.
Peckish yet? At midday, we'll have a delicious traditional lunch of fresh local fish. We'll then take our minibus back to your hotel in Santa Marta, where we should arrive at 2:30 pm.
Hotel Pickup
This day trip includes pickup from hotels in Santa Marta, other than in the areas of Minca and Tangana.
