On this private excursion to Chaquira and Tablón, we'll visit fascinating archaeological sites and enjoy incredible views of the Magdalena River canyon.
Description
We'll pick you up from your hotel in San Agustín at the indicated time to visit two of the most remarkable archaeological sites in the department of Huila. You can choose between two means of transport: car or minibus, or we can go on horseback.
We'll begin by heading to Tablón, an archaeological site home to a series of monoliths and statues carved in stone. Who sculpted them? What did they represent? We'll discuss these questions and much more over the course of the tour!
We'll then head to the Chaquira viewpoint, one of the best places to see the Magdalena River canyon in all its splendour, along with waterfalls and archaeological remains.
Our next stop will be the hills of La Pelota and El Purutal, where we'll catch a glimpse of various interesting funerary monuments. There, we'll observe how the passage of time has affected these ancient sculptures.
Finally, we'll return to San Agustin and drop you off at your hotel 3-4 hours after pickup.
