Private Finnish Sauna Experience
If you're in Rovaniemi, don't miss experiencing one of the most traditional rituals in Lapland: a Finnish sauna on the ice. At the designated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel and leave the city behind to head to a unique spot with one important goal: to relax.
We'll reach the truly authentic Lappish setting, where we'll marvel at the impressive lake among trees. Here, a mobile sauna mounted on skis awaits us, taking us into the waters of this haven of peace.
We'll board this unique boat and begin the activity. The Finnish sauna consists of a wooden cabin heated with firewood, where the temperature can reach up to 158ºF (70ºC). Once inside, we'll show you how to use it. A curious aspect of the Finnish sauna is that it's a ritual, as it's combined with a subsequent dip in the frozen lake. That's why in Finland they're always located next to lakes. Did you know that saunas were originally considered sacred places?
Depending on the time of year you travel to Rovamiemi, you can enjoy either the winter or summer sauna. The only difference is that in winter, the lake will be completely frozen. In summer, the waters are thawed, but still perfect for experiencing the contrast with the high temperatures inside the sauna.
To put the finishing touch on your private experience, we'll enjoy various hot drinks and snacks in a traditional teepee.

From September to May, it may be possible to see the Aurora Borealis while you bathe in the frozen lake. However, if you do this activity in the summer months (between May and October), you'll be able to see the midnight sun instead.
