On this day trip, you'll discover the history of Porto wine from its origins in the vineyards of the Douro Valley. We'll visit several wineries and sample their wines along the way.

Tour Options

When booking, you can choose between a 6.5-hour or 10-hour tour. Both routes depart at the scheduled time from Calçada da Vandoma in Porto and include transport and an English-speaking guide.

Here's a breakdown of each route:

6.5-Hour Tour

First, we'll head to the Douro Valley to take in its stunning riverside vineyard scenery. Our first stop will be at Quinta de São Luiz winery, or a similar one in the area, where we'll learn about the history of Douro Valley wines, explore the region's winemaking traditions and production methods, and wrap up with a tasting of 3 wines.

Next, we'll enjoy a boat trip along the Douro River. Over the course of the approximately 30-minute journey, we'll soak in the views of the terraced vineyards lining the riverbanks.

After the cruise, we'll head to the São Cristóvão do Douro Viewpoint for stunning views over the Douro Valley.

Then, once we've taken in the panoramic scenery, we'll make our way back to Porto, ending this 6.5-hour day trip on Rua de Alexandre Herculano, next to Praça da Batalha.

10-Hour Tour

After meeting at the starting point, we'll head east into the heart of the Douro wine region.

Our first stop will be a winery in Pinhão for a wine tasting. This charming little village is home to a wealth of wine tourism centers. Alongside its delicious wines, Pinhão also gives us the chance to dive into Portuguese cuisine with a traditional lunch.

We'll sample some of the area's most beloved local dishes, paired with regional wine. Vegetarian and allergy-friendly menus are also available, just let us know when booking!

After lunch, we'll enjoy a relaxing river cruise with spectacular views of the valley. Our next stop will be one of the Douro's top wineries, where we'll taste the famous Porto wines.

Finally, we'll say our goodbyes on Rua de Alexandre Herculano after 10 hours of adventure.
