With a visit to São Bento da Vitória, you'll explore one of Porto's most important monasteries, finishing with an unforgettable fado performance.
São Bento da Vitória Monastery
The São Bento da Vitória Monastery is a 17th-century monastic complex located next to the Portuguese Center of Photography, right in the heart of Porto's historic center.
On arrival, you'll be welcomed with a glass of Singeverga. Did you know this traditional liqueur is handmade by Benedictine monks? After this welcome drink, you'll begin your self-guided exploration of the monastery.
Along the way, you'll discover its main rooms, including the highlight of the visit: the church of São Bento da Vitória, home to an 18th-century organ and a spectacular golden Baroque altar.
After exploring the monastery, you'll visit the sacristy, where you'll enjoy an unforgettable performance of fado, Portugal's most traditional musical genre.
The concert lasts 1 hour, with a 10-minute intermission. During this break, you'll enjoy a glass of Port wine, a true symbol of northern Portugal.
