Explore the depths of the breathtaking Ligai Si' Anii Canyon on this hiking route through Antelope Valley. We'll discover sandstone landscapes sculpted by erosion. One of Arizona's best-kept desert secrets!
Activity Details
Welcome to the longest H-shaped slot canyon in Antelope Valley! After meeting at Milepost 35.5, we'll head to the start of the Ligai Si' Anii Canyon trail, where we'll take a short walk across desert terrain before entering the canyon.
Through a passage of approximately 27 meters (89 feet), we'll make our way into this sandstone formation. We'll take in its narrow walls with gently undulating surfaces and sedimentary layers that reveal ancient processes of wind-driven deposition.
As we go, we'll move through winding passages where natural light filters in from the top of the canyon, casting striking color contrasts across the reddish-orange rock. Walking through this environment, we'll observe how wind and water have carved cavities, grooves, and organic shapes into the slot canyon walls.
This route is suitable for all fitness levels. That said, please keep in mind that we'll pass through a trail along the canyon wall with 2 flights of stairs and handrails.
At the end of this 1.5-hour hike, we'll make our way back to the meeting point, where we'll wrap up the activity. See you next time!
