Enjoy dinner at a restaurant in the Tatacoa Desert and learn all about stars in an Astronomical Observatory on this day trip from Neiva.
Day Trip Details
At the designated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Neiva and set off to the Tatacoa Desert to enjoy an unforgettable experience in one of the most spectacular places in Colombia.
Did you know that the Tatacoa Desert, known for being the second-largest arid region in Colombia, is actually a tropical dry forest? Although the average temperature can reach more than 95°F (35°C), it's inhabited by plants and animals that have adapted to these conditions.
We'll take you to the El Rincón del Cabrito restaurant or the terrace of Hotel Cosmos to enjoy a dinner outdoors while admiring the natural landscape from a vantage point. Here, you'll try the restaurant's speciality: roasted goat. This dish is also one of the most popular in the region of Huila.
After dinner, to finish this activity on a high note, we'll take you to the Astrosur Astronomical Observatory or the VyctoriaStars Observatory, depending on availability. The center's Spanish-speaking team will engage us in a fascinating discussion and show us why the Tatacoa Desert has become one of the world's most popular stargazing sites. If you're lucky and the sky is completely clear, you'll witness it yourselves!
Finally, we'll begin our journey back to the starting point, where we'll arrive after this 6-hour day trip.
