On our Rio Verde Trip from Medellín, we'll spend either 1 or 2 days in the middle of nature exploring this beautiful part of the Antioquia Department and rafting in crystal-clear waters.
At the designated time, we'll pick you up from the Masaya Hostel in Medellín and set off on our adventure. We'll hop into our jeep and head to the mountainous Antioquia region.
When we get to the village of Boquerón, we'll start a 1-hour hike down the canyon through amazing landscapes. As we hike, we'll be accompanied by mules that'll carry the equipment for the activity.
Ready to go rafting? We'll be given some safety instructions from the guide before getting into the rafts and making our way down Rio Verde. Our exciting 15.5-mile (25-kilometre) route will take us through waves, whirlpools and rapids.
Halfway through the activity, we'll stop and have a tasty picnic lunch. During the break, you'll be able to take a dip and jump into the deep pools of Rio Verde.
We'll return to the boats and continue rafting - we've saved the best rapids for last! Our activity will finish at the Samaná River bridge, where the drivers will be waiting to take us back to the initial meeting point.
After an unforgettable day spent in the middle of nature, you'll be dropped off at the meeting point in Medellín after a total of 13 hours.
If you'd like a slightly longer trip, you can choose our 2-day trip to Rio Verde when making your booking.
Our first day will be spent rafting as in the activity described above. Afterwards, we'll come to the river's edge and set up our hammocks. We'll end the day with a delicious dinner (vegetarian, vegan & gluten-free options available). Sleep tight!
You can begin the second day by taking a refreshing swim in the river while we prepare breakfast for you. Once you've had a bite to eat, we'll take a walk through the canyon and along a stream near Rio Verde. We'll then get into our rafts and explore secluded areas and hidden waterfalls.
We'll make a stop and have a picnic lunch (vegetarian, vegan & gluten-free options available)before setting off in our rafts once more. Keep your eyes peeled for some exotic birds flying overhead!
The activity will come to an end at the bridge of the Samaná river, where we'll start the journey back to the meeting point in Medellín. We'll arrive at around 8 pm and say our goodbyes.
The 2-day trip includes a night's accommodation at a campsite with hammocks.
If you wish, during the booking process you'll have the option of selecting an optional hotel pickup for an extra price which will depend on the location of your hotel.
