After disembarking from your cruise ship, you'll head to the Greka Land shop, located at the exit of the cruise terminal. From here, we'll board an air-conditioned bus toward Ancient Olympia, where you'll admire the countryside landscapes along the way. Are you ready to visit the birthplace of the Olympic Games?
We'll arrive at the archeological site of Ancient Olympia after a comfortable 30-minute journey. Upon arrival, we'll provide you with a device to access the audio guide in English so you can discover the fascinating history of one of Greece's most important archeological sites. Here, you'll admire the remains of the oldest temple of Olympia, the Temple of Hera, dedicated to Hera, queen of the Greek gods. You'll witness the spot where the Olympic fire is lit and carried to all parts of the world!
You'll also have the chance to visit the Temple of Zeus, which was home to the renowned statue of Zeus, once listed as a Seven Wonder of the Ancient World. This temple was the design of classical Greek temples in the Doric order.
As you continue exploring Ancient Olympia, you'll find the Bouleuterion of Ancient Olympia. This was the assembly house of ancient Greece, where the representatives of the council of citizens would decide about public affairs. Here, you'll learn how the Bouleterioun played an important role in the administration of the ancient Olympic Games.
