We'll start our coffee adventure at the designated time in Jerico's main park. Here, we'll take a picturesque journey to a coffee farm by tuk-tuk.
Upon arrival, the host family will give us a warm welcome before we head over to the main hall in the coffee farmhouse. After introductions, they will hand out a pack that includes a bottle of water and an empty 70-gram container to fill with fresh coffee during the activity.
We'll start the tour by going over the history of coffee across the globe, and of course, its history in Colombia and on this very farm. After this, we'll learn all about how coffee is cultivated, from the moment the seeds are planted right up to the harvest, providing a complete overview of the agricultural process.
After this presentation, we'll take a break to cool down with a drink. After this small pause, we'll discover what happens to the coffee from the processing to the packaging, learning about each step that goes into transforming the coffee bean into a product ready to be consumed.
The fourth and final stage of the tour will be a unique sensory experience: a specialised tasting! A demonstration will then take place of different preparation methods, using tools and techniques like the French Press, Chemex Coffeemaker, V60, and Aeropress. You'll become experts in Colombian coffee! You'll also receive a stamp and an instant photo by which to remember the experience.
Finally, we'll return to Jerico's main park. Three and a half hours after starting the tour, we'll say our goodbyes after having a delicious brunch, which will mark the end of our immersive journey into the world of coffee.
