Day Trip Details
At the designated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Ibagué, and from there, we'll kick off this day trip to the Hacienda Castilla, one of the stages where the Netflix series One Hundred Years of Solitude was filmed.
Along the way, we'll stop for a quick breakfast and enjoy one of the most popular dishes in this area of Colombia: the lechona. This delicacy is made of pork, peas, and rice. Delicious!
After breakfast, we'll reach the estate, located 23 mi (38 km) from Ibagué. This estate was selected as one of the filming sets of the series thanks to its diverse landscapes, which recreated the particular atmosphere described in Gabriel García Márquez's masterpiece and bring life to its scenes.
We'll tour its trails filled with ancient trees, as we dive into the history of Macondo and the world of the Buendía family. In the afternoon, we'll stop to enjoy a tasty typical Colombian lunch.
After lunch, you'll have approximately 3 hours of free time to enjoy at your own pace the estate's installations, nestled in the heart of the mountains of the Tolima department. You can take a dip in the pool or, if you prefer to immerse yourself in the nature, swim in one of the waterfalls with crystal-clear waters surrounding the property.
Finally, we'll begin the journey back to the starting point, where we'll say our goodbyes after a total of 11 hours.
