Activity Details
Ready to discover the secrets hiding in the Rocky Mountains' night sky? At the designated time, we'll pick you up from the Banff hotel you select when booking, and set off on a very special evening in Banff National Park.
Our first stop will be a viewpoint where we'll watch the lights of the town of Banff shimmer as the mountain peaks merge into the darkness. Here, we'll share the origins of this mountain town.
We'll then continue to the shores of Lake Minnewanka. As dusk gives way to the deep of night, we'll listen to captivating Indigenous stories and tales about the relationship between these lands and the wildlife that comes alive after sunset. It's the perfect moment to immerse yourself in the mythology of the park.
The highlight of the evening comes at Two Jack Lake, one of the best spots in Banff for stargazing thanks to its minimal light pollution. No need to worry about the cold: you'll be seated in heated chairs while enjoying a hot chocolate or tea under the starry sky.
To explore the cosmos, we'll have telescopes, binoculars, and tablets with constellation identification apps at your disposal. You'll be able to locate planets, star clusters, and distant galaxies with remarkable clarity. And if nature is on our side, the northern lights may make an appearance, painting the sky in their signature greens and purples.
Finally, after around 5 hours, we'll head back to your Banff hotel to say our goodbyes.
Northern Lights in Banff
The best time to see the northern lights in Banff is from September to April. As this is an unpredictable natural phenomenon, it's impossible to guarantee that the northern lights will be visible during the activity.
