With this hiking route through Las Cárcavas de Villa de Leyva we'll enjoy walking through a desert landscape of the most atypical, and we'll feel like real adventurers!
Hiking in Las Cárcavas of Villa de Leyva
At the time of your choice, we'll meet at Carrera 9 in Villa de Leyva. From there we'll walk to the outskirts of the municipality to embark on a hiking route through Las Cárcavas, a group of yellow and brown rock formations.
For three hours, we'll enjoy a walk through semi-desert and eroded landscapes that contrast with the surrounding forests. We'll see formations of all types as we advance along the Canal de los Españoles, an old road used by mules loaded with agricultural products.
We'll reach the viewpoint of Las Cárcavas, an elevation situated at 1600 metres above sea level, from where we'll have dream views of the rugged landscape. If you notice, some of the rocks are crater-shaped and recreate lunar landscapes. Do you know why? Pay attention to the explanations! We'll take a break to take pictures of this amazing place and listen to some of the legends of the area.
Finally, we'll say goodbye to the experience with the arrival at the meeting point.
