Why visit the Old Jail?
The Old Jail is one of St. Augustine's most iconic sites and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. With admission to the city's old jail, you'll learn about prisoners' conditions in the late 19th century through performances by actors in the various rooms of the museum who portray both the sheriffs and the most dangerous criminals of the time.
The Old Jail is full of fascinating stories about prisoners and the families of the bailiffs who lived across the hall. The appearance of the Old Jail, however, will leave you speechless, as it was restored in 1993 to emulate an elegant Renaissance building. If only these walls could speak...
Hours
The Old Jail is open during the following times:
- Sunday to Thursday: 9 am to 4:30 pm
- Fridays and Saturdays: 9 am to 5:30 pm
The dramatized tours take place every 20 minutes, daily.
Ticket options
When booking, you can choose between two types of tickets:
- Regular ticket: with this ticket, you'll only have access to the Old Jail.
- Combined ticket: with this ticket, in addition to the Old Jail, you'll have access to the St. Augustine History Museum, the Oldest Store Museum and the St. Augustine Tourist Trolleybus.
