Salento & Cocora Valley Tour
At the designated time, we'll see you at the Parroquia Nuestra Señora del Carmen in central Salento. We'll hop into the off-roading vehicles and set off for the Cocora Valley. During the journey, we'll discuss this region's coffee traditions and the different plant species we'll encounter.
We'll stop at a viewpoint in the mountains and look out at a breathtaking panoramic view of the Nevados National Park. You'll be sure to notice the large number of wax palms found here! Did you know that the Cocora Valley is home to the national tree of Colombia? We'll discuss this and some more fun facts about this plant. As we drive through the valley, we'll look out for the flowers surrounding us and the birds flying overhead.
Afterwards, we'll return to Salento and take a tour of the city's historic centre. Before beginning our guided tour, we'll have a well-deserved traditional lunch consisting of trout and patacón (twice-fried plantain). Delicious!
After lunch, we'll explore the streets of Santo to admire its colourful façades and balconies filled with flowers, which have become an icon of this municipality in Quindío. In addition, we'll discuss Salento's origins as well as its key historical moments. To complete our tour of Salento, we'll visit the Bosque de Palmas. You'll fall in love with this natural beauty!
Finally, we'll say our goodbyes after a total of 6 hours in the center of Salento.
