On this tour to Siena, San Gimignano, and Chianti, we'll discover the beautiful region of Tuscany - including medieval towns, and a visit to a wine cellar!
Description
At the indicated time, we'll meet in front of the metro stop at Tiburtina Station, where we'll board a bus that will take us on an adventure through the most famous region of Italy.
Tuscany is famous the world over for its charming villages and vineyard-filled hills that stretch as far as the eye can see. Our first stop here will be at San Gimignano - a village known for its incredible medieval architecture and squares, including the Piazza del Duomo and the Piazza della Cisterna.
After we get to know San Gimignano, we'll make our way over to a winery to taste the famous Chianti wine. We'll gain an insight into how this magnificent wine is made, as well as enjoy a tasting of 15 wines and oils. Afterwards, we'll enjoy a delicious lunch which includes: Tuscan cheese and salami aperitifs, bruschetta and other snacks; a main dish of truffle lasagna or Tuscan ribollita soup and a dessert, consisting of cantuccini biscuits and a dessert wine.
We'll then head for the city of Siena, known for its historic centre as well as the Piazza del Campo, where the Palio di Siena horse race is held each year. Observe the peculiar shell shape of the Piazza as you walk through, as well as the gorgeous Torre de Mangia! We'll then stroll up to the Duomo - a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Enchanted by the incredible beauty of Tuscany's villages and landscapes, we'll return to Rome through the Val d'Orcia.
The tour will end at the meeting point 12 hours after the start of the tour.
