In this activity, we'll go up to the second floor of the Eiffel Tower. Then, we'll take a train from Paris to Versailles, with admission to the palace included. You'll discover two of France's most famous monuments in just one day!
Tour Details
We'll meet at the indicated time at number 7 of the Avenue Silvestre de Sacy. From this point, located right by the Eiffel Tower, we'll make our way to Paris' most iconic monument.
First, we'll admire the structure of this great tower designed by Gustave Eiffel for the 1889 World's Fair from the outside. After learning some interesting facts about the details of its construction, we'll enter the Iron Lady via the stairs leading to the first and second floors of the Eiffel Tower.
The first floor is 57 m (187 ft) high, while the second floor reaches 115 m (377.2 ft). We'll take advantage of this height to enjoy extraordinary panoramic views of Paris from its viewpoint. We'll see iconic sites of the French capital such as the Notre-Dame Cathedral, the Arc de Triomphe, and the River Seine.
After a 1.5-hour guided tour of the Eiffel Tower, we'll walk to the nearby Champ de Mars station. There, we'll take an RER train that will take us to Versailles, the former capital of the Kingdom of France, in just 30 minutes. You'll be captivated from the very first moment!
From the station, we'll take a short walk to the Palace of Versailles, a masterpiece of French Baroque architecture and a UNESCO-declared World Heritage Site. Once there, you'll have an hour of free time to stroll around and have a drink.
Next, we'll take a guided tour of the gardens of Versailles, which will last approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. Designed by André Le Nôtre, the fountains, sculptures, and symmetrical avenues reflect the power and grandeur of the Sun King.
During this tour, we'll admire the palace from the outside and learn interesting facts about the court of Louis XIV, during whose reign this elegant residence enjoyed its period of greatest splendour. At the end of the tour of the gardens, we'll give you your ticket to the Palace of Versailles. Inside, you can explore at your leisure notable rooms such as the Royal Apartments and the Hall of Mirrors, where the peace treaty that ended the First World War was signed.
This combined activity will last a total of 8 hours. You'll take the train back to Paris from Versailles without the guide, so we'll give you an open-time ticket so that you can return whenever you wish. Please note that this ticket will only be valid on the day of the activity.
