On this guided tour of Nazaré, we'll explore this enchanting coastal town and learn about its culture and traditions with an English-speaking guide.

Nazaré Walking Tour

We'll meet at the time indicated at the Peixe Seco Museum to start this guided walking tour of Nazaré, where we'll discover this charming town and its monuments.

At the Peixe Seco Museum, we'll learn about the importance of fishing in Nazaré and learn how this ancient technique of drying fish has been fundamental to the local economy over the decades.

Then, we'll head through the Nazaré market to the Pederneira Casa Museu do Pescador, a place that will take us back in time. We'll admire the fishermen's ancient tools, traditional outfits and photographs that will tell us all about the history of a community dedicated to the sea.

Afterwards, we'll visit Casal das Figueiras, take a delightful walk around its gardens and marvel at the views of the Atlantic.

Our next stop will be the Elevador da Nazaré, a lift that will take us from the centre of the town to Sitio, an elevated area with impressive views. From here, you'll be able to spot the gigantic waves that have brought Nazaré worldwide fame and popularity amongst surfers. Then, we'll head towards the Ermida da Memoria, a beautiful sanctuary located on a cliff with views out to sea.

Finally, we'll visit the São Miguel Arcanjo Sanctuary and Fort, two iconic sites in Nazaré. Here, we'll learn about the town's history from a military perspective as we admire the impressive walls.

We'll end this guided walking tour around Nazaré after walking between 2.5 and 4.5 km (1.5 to 2.7 miles) at the initial meeting point.
