Why Visit the Prado Museum?

Located in the so-called Paisaje de la Luz, a beautiful area in the centre of Madrid declared a World Heritage Site, the Prado Museum is one of the most important art galleries in the world.

With a collection of 7600 paintings and 1000 sculptures, the Prado Museum houses an extensive exhibition of European and Spanish art. It has pieces by painters such as Velázquez, El Greco, Rubens, El Bosco and Goya.

In the Prado, you'll find masterpieces such as Las Meninas by Velázquez, The Garden of Earthly Delights by El Bosco, The Three Graces by Rubens or La maja desnuda by Goya.

This ticket includes access to the permanent collection and temporary exhibitions on the day of your visit. Please note that, on certain occasions, your ticket may not include access to certain temporary exhibitions.

In the latter case, you'll need to purchase the corresponding time pass on the day of your visit. Availability is subject to demand.

Audio Guide

When booking, you can choose the option that includes an audio guide. With this option, you'll have an audio guide in English with information about nearly 300 works in the permanent collection and the main temporary exhibitions in the Prado Museum.

Skip-the-Line Tickets

Your ticket includes administration fees: 3EUR per person. Also, by booking this ticket, you'll skip the queue at the museum's ticket office. However, you will still have to go through the security check and queue to enter the building.

Museum Opening Times

The Prado Museum is open from Monday to Saturday from 10 am to 8 pm, and on Sundays and public holidays from 10 am to 7 pm
In all cases, final admission to the museum is 30 minutes before closing time. Clearance from the rooms starts 10 minutes before closing time
The museum is closed on January 1, May 1 and December 25

When booking, you'll be able to choose a time slot for your visit. After making your reservation, we'll contact you within 72 hours to let you know what time you have been allocated for your visit. This time will always be within the time slot you choose.

Discounted Ticket

Large families, seniors over 65 and young people with a valid Youth Card can get access to the museum at a reduced rate by buying tickets at the Prado Museum ticket office.

Free Ticket

Admission to the Prado Museum is free for the following groups:

The general public can enter free of charge Monday to Saturday from 6 pm to 8 pm, and on Sundays and public holidays from 5 pm to 7 pm. It is also free on November 19 and May 18.

If you have already purchased a general admission ticket with Civitatis and wish to reserve another free or reduced-price ticket, you can go with your reservation to the ticket office located at Puerta de Goya. There you will have to wait in line and, if the accrediting documents you present are valid, you will be given a free or reduced-price ticket.

Only official tourist guides, duly accredited, and ICOM card holders, can enter through the Jerónimos Gate without going through the ticket office beforehand.
