At the designated time, we'll meet at the selected pickup point in central London to begin this day trip to Windsor Castle followed by a tour of the Tower of London, two of Britain's most renowned landmarks. Ready to explore British royal history?
First, we'll travel for about an hour on a comfortable bus to Windsor Castle, the official residence of King Charles III. Did you know it's the world's oldest and largest occupied castle? At the lower ward, we'll marvel at the 15th-century St. George's Chapel, considered one of the supreme achievements of English Perpendicular Gothic design. This chapel is the site of royal weddings and the burial place of 11 monarchs, including Queen Elizabeth II and Henry VIII. We'll also see the lavish early 19th-century state apartments. Don't forget to take pictures!
Then, we'll head back to the city to explore the legendary Tower of London. After driving for about 1.5 hours, we'll reach this UNESCO-listed fortress which is steeped in dark history. Located on the north bank of the River Thames, we'll walk in the footsteps of prisoners, queens, and executioners in this historic citadel and castle.
Here, we'll admire the dazzling Crown Jewels of England, the collection of royal ceremonial objects. This collection, which also includes coronation regalia and vestments worn by British monarchs, is guarded fiercely by the Yeoman Warders, popularly known as Beefeaters. Here, we'll also explore the infamous Tower Green, where many were executed by beheading.
Our adventure will conclude here, about 7 hours after pickup, and you'll be free to continue exploring the area on your own, soaking in the weight of centuries.
