On this day trip from Lisbon, you'll visit Fátima and Aljustrel, the birthplace of the Three Secrets of Fátima, in a small group for a maximum of 8 people. Are you ready to discover the spiritual heart of Portugal?
At the designated time, we'll meet at the Praça da Figueira and, from this location in Lisbon, we'll begin this day trip to Fátima. After traveling for approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes, we'll reach the spiritual heart of Portugal.
We'll start the tour on a high note by visiting the Sanctuary of Fátima, one of the most important Marian pilgrimage centers in the world. Here, we'll go on a guided tour to learn about the origins of the apparitions in 1918 and their historic and religious impact in the region.
Afterward, we'll explore the Chapel of the Apparitions, built exactly where, according to tradition, the Virgin appeared to shepherds. We'll also see the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary, which houses the tombs of these shepherds, and we'll attend a mass. You'll have approximately 1 hour of free time to explore at your own pace and taste the local cuisine.
After 2 hours, we'll go on a 10-minute journey to the small village of Aljustrel. Here, we'll understand the social and economic context of the early 20th century. We'll visit the houses of Lucía, Francisco, and Jacinta, three shepherd children, where the family's original items are still preserved.
Lastly, we'll walk toward the Poço do Arneiro and Valinhos, two important sites in daily life, surrounded by a landscape of olives and stone walls. Did you know these routes were explored by foot by these shepherd children as they took care of the cattle?
Finally, we'll return to Lisbon. After a total of 6 to 6.5 hours, we'll say our goodbyes in front of the HF Fénix building.
