Day Trip Details
On the day of the tour, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Kraków and head towards Wieliczka, a town located just 15 km (9.3 mi) away that is home to one of Poland's most visited sites.
Declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1978, the Wieliczka Salt Mine is one of the oldest in the world. Upon arrival, we'll take a comprehensive guided tour inside, discovering its spectacular chambers, lakes, and sculptures carved from the salt rock.
We'll descend 213 ft (65 m) underground via a long staircase that will lead us directly to the heart of Wieliczka. Did you know it's also known as the "underground cathedral"? This place boasts over 245 km (152 mi) of galleries, passageways, and chambers dedicated to various figures who have visited them, such as Chopin and Goethe.
During the tour, the guide will reveal all the secrets of the mine, including the miners' way of life and how salt is extracted. It has been in operation since the 13th century!
Of course, we will visit the Chapel of St. Kinga, a 177 ft long (54 m) hall that is remarkable for being entirely decorated with salt. We'll also see the underground lakes and the chamber where dances and even sporting events are held. You'll love every corner of Wieliczka!
Finally, after a 3-hour tour of the Salt Mine, we'll return to the surface and head back to your hotel in Kraków, where we'll say goodbye 4 hours after pickup.
