Firstly, we'll descend deep into the Halemaʻumaʻu Crater of the renowned Kīlauea Volcano. Within our first mile, we'll witness the striking remnants of an active volcano, marvelling at the steam vents and fascinating sulphur banks.
As our path continues, we'll be led through a rainforest full of tree ferns, ohia trees, and honeycreeper birds. Prepare to be amazed by the vibrant flora, showcasing the fascinating adaptations that enable them to thrive within the volcanic crater's unique environment.
As we reach the bottom of the Kīlauea crater, we'll be met by Kīlauea lava lake. This pool of molten lava is sure to amaze you! We'll take a moment to stand in awe at this extraordinary creation before resuming our hike.
To put the finishing touch on this unforgettable route, we'll hike to a point from where we'll be able to take in breathtaking views of the Kīlauea crater, with Mauna Loa in sight in the distance. If we're really lucky, we may even witness the breathtaking spectacle of a Kīlauea eruption!
