How it Works

The duration of the card's validity begins on the day it's first used. From that moment on, you can use it for the next 48 hours. For example, if you activate the Royal Edinburgh Ticket on a Monday at 12 pm, it'll be valid until 11:59 am on Wednesday.

Ticket Collection

To enjoy the benefits of the Royal Edinburgh Ticket, you'll have to redeem the voucher at the Waterloo Place sightseeing bus stop.

Between September 6 and November 23, 2026, please note that the Waterloo Place stop will be out of service. Therefore, during that time, the tour’s starting point will be temporarily moved to George Street, stop GG, across from the Assembly Rooms (EH2 2HT). You can also redeem your ticket at St. Andrew Square (EH2 1AF). Following, you can see a map of the temporary route.

Edinburgh Castle

Open daily at the following times:

April 1 - September 30: from 9:30 am to 6 pm (final admission is at 5 pm)
October 1 - March 31: from 9:30 am to 5 pm (final admission is at 4 pm)

Royal Yacht Britannia

Open daily at the following times:

January - March: from 10 am to 5 pm (final admission is at 3 pm)
April - August: from 9:30 am to 6 pm (final admission is at 4 pm)
September: from 10 am to 6 pm (final admission is at 4 pm)
October: from 10 am to 5:30 pm (final admission is at 3:30 pm)
November - December: from 10 am to 5 pm (final admission is at 3 pm)

Holyroodhouse Palace

November 1 - March 31: from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm (final admission is at 3:15 pm)
April 1 - October 31: from 9:30 am to 6 pm (final access is at 4:30 pm)

The palace is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays except from May 25 to September 8, when it opens daily.

Additionally, the palace is closed from May 12 to May 20, and from June 26 to July 3, 2026. During those times, your Royal Edinburgh Ticket will get you into The King's Gallery and its temporary exhibit instead. You'll get to check out The Edwardians, where you can see all the opulence and glamour of the Edwardian era through the eyes of two of Britain's most stylish royal couples.

The bus runs every day, from April 2 - October 28 from 9:06 am to 5:54 pm, with departures every 12 minutes.

Regal Tour Schedule

The bus runs every day, from April 2 - October 28 from 9 am to 5:30 pm, with departures every 15 minutes.

City Sightseeing Edinburgh Schedule

The bus runs every day, from April 2 - October 28 from 9 am to 6 pm, with departures every 10-12 minutes.
