During your visit to the Free Derry Museum, you will explore the history of the city during the period 1968 to 1972, including the time popularly known as "Free Derry", civil rights, the Battle of the Bogside and, of course, Bloody Sunday, when the British Army committed mass murder in the streets of the Bogside. From that moment on, the people of Derry, led by the families of the victims, wrote a new chapter in the history of civil rights, a source of international inspiration.
The Museum is situated in the heart of where these events took place. During your visit, you'll walk through the different rooms of the museum and explore the city's most historical moments from the point of view of those who were most involved in and affected by these events – the Free Derry community, as well as see what the future holds for this town in Northern Ireland. A most interesting visit!
