At the indicated time we'll meet at the famous sculpture, The Big Sweep, to begin our guided tour of Denver. Are you ready to learn the history and secrets of the city through its historic buildings and its most emblematic spaces? Let's go there!
From there, we'll walk a few steps to the Colorado Women's History Center. In this museum, housed in a 19th century mansion, we'll discover the story of the brave women who were part of the Great Western Expansion, facing countless challenges. A different perspective on the history of this region usually associated only with men, gold mines and gunfights.
Next, we'll head to the imposing Colorado State Capitol, built in the late 19th century. Its architecture, reminiscent of the U.S. Capitol, is a testament to the city's rich history. Here we'll learn about the founding of the city and the development of the state.
From here, we'll head into Downtown to see the historic Brown Palace Hotel, built in 1890. Did you know that this was the meeting place for the most elite classes? It's also famous for its unique atrium-style architecture. We'll take the opportunity to learn some of the more sordid stories related to gambling and speakeasies in the area.
Finally, we'll cross the 16th Street Mall, one of Denver's most famous pedestrian streets, to reach Larimer Square. This tree-lined square with its historic facades will be the end of our 2-hour guided tour.
