At our interesting starting point, the scene will be set for the remainder of the tour in this park where lush greenery meets urban art. Then, we'll make our way out of the park as our guide tells us how the city has transformed over the years from a humble trading post along the Catawba path to a thriving hub of banking empires. We'll also learn about how the former gold mines shaped the city's economy, as we trace its evolution from milltowns to the modern-day sprawling metropolis.
As we continue this walking tour of Charlotte, we'll hear about the intimidating legacy of Queen Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, after whom the city was named. The list of celebrities doesn't stop here. Charlotte also boasts connections with the genius artist Romare Bearden and the basketball superstar Michael Jordan.
