At the indicated time, we'll meet in Place du Prado to begin our guided tour of Carcassonne.
First, we'll step through the ancient gates of Porte Narbonnaise, the grand entrance to Carcassonne's fortified city. We'll learn about the evolution of these defensive walls over the years, which is now one of the best-preserved citadels in Europe.
Then, we'll stop at the foot of the Carcassonne Castle, which you'll be able to visit on your own at the end of the tour. Next to this great bastion, undoubtedly one of the city's great monumental jewels, we'll let our imagination run wild with stories related to feudalism, the Cathars, and the Albigensian crusade.
Next, we'll stroll through the enchanting maze of medieval streets that wind through Carcassonne. As we explore, we'll continue learning about the city's rich history and marveling at its architectural splendor.
Lastly, we'll visit the Saint-Nazaire Basilica, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture, where we'll enjoy the great luminosity that shines through its colorful stained glass windows.
