Cairo Food Tour
At the indicated time, we'll begin this food tour of Cairo from the entrance to the QNB Alahli Egypt bank, located at 5 Champollion Rd.
After a brief introduction to traditional Egyptian cuisine, we’ll set out on foot through the heart of the capital to discover its most traditional flavors. First, we'll enjoy a glass of freshly squeezed sugarcane juice at a local juice stand.
Next, we’ll head to the iconic Koshary Abou Tarek to sample Egypt’s most famous dish: koshari, a delicious mix of rice, pasta, lentils, chickpeas, and crispy onions, all topped with a spicy tomato sauce.
Our next stop will be at Malek El Kebda to try traditional Egyptian sandwiches filled with liver, sausage, and brains. We’ll also stop at Hawawshy Shalaby to enjoy crispy hawawshy, freshly baked pita bread stuffed with spiced ground meat.
Our tour will then continue to Akher Saa to try a classic eggah sandwich, the traditional Egyptian omelet made with aromatic herbs and spices.
Finally, after a 2.5-hour tour, we’ll wrap up the tour at Akram Gad restaurant by sampling an authentic feteer meshaltet, the traditional Egyptian puff pastry, served in both savory (with cheese and vegetables) and sweet (filled with pastry cream) versions.
