Day Trip Details
On the day trip, we'll meet in front of the DoubleTree by Hilton Amsterdam Centraal Station to begin our journey to Zaanse Schans, an open-air museum that reflects life in the Netherlands in the 18th and 19th centuries. Ready to fall in love with stunning landscapes?
In just a 30-minute journey, we'll arrive at this iconic windmill village, where we'll make our first stop at a clog factory. Here, we'll witness a demonstration of the handcrafted process of making these traditional wooden shoes.
We'll continue at another factory, where we'll learn about the production of Dutch cheese and enjoy a tasting. As well as that, we'll explore different museums and admire the authentic architecture in the region. Of course, we can't leave without taking a stop to take photos at the famous windmills.
After 2 hours in Zaanse Schans, we'll head to Giethoorn, a picturesque village located 1.5 hours away. On the way, the guide will share some interesting facts about Dutch history and will tell us all about the landscapes we cross, such as the country's largest artificial lake.
Upon arrival at Giethoorn, you'll have an hour of free time to grab something to eat. Then, we'll meet back up again and go on a boat trip along the charming canals of Giethoorn. During an hour's sail, we'll take in the little houses, narrow canals and cobbled streets of this pretty village.
Finally, you'll have free time to continue exploring Giethoorn, relax in a café, or grab a beer. In the afternoon, we'll begin our journey back to Amsterdam, where we'll arrive at the starting point after a total of 9 hours.
